What do you put under concrete slab?
Generally as a rule, the base must be 75mm larger for the finished slab to allow for formwork.
Tomson construction standard is to clear the area of stones, plants and excavate to a minimum depth of 100mm (deeper for soft ground). Gravel is thrown on top, followed by levelling and then well compacted using a compactor, providing a solid base for your concrete. This improves drainage, preventing water from pooling beneath the concrete and creating rising damp.
